Opening of the third session of the Parliament the next week will actually give a start to new political season of 2013 in Ukraine. It shall be more saturated and, thus, more intense than during the first part of the year. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak said this during the interview with journalists on Thursday.
According to him, more than 1,5 thousands of bills, submitted by all
political factions, the government and the Head of the state were registered in
the Parliament and are ready for consideration. Thereat, the Chairman of the
Parliament stressed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should do its best to adapt
our legislation to the European standards. He drew attention to the fact that “we
have already fulfilled the vast majority of commitments to the Council of
Europe regarding this issue”. “Despite political opposition, the Parliament has
adopted 10 important legal acts in the context of signing of the Association
Agreement,” the Chairman noted. Volodymyr Rybak said that in order to complete
this work, the Verkhovna Rada should scrutinize and take the decision regarding
such complicated bills as reforming the prosecutor’s office, the court system
and refinement of electoral legislation. “They are extremely topical in the
context of development of social, legal and democratic state, as well as the civil society,” stressed Volodymyr Rybak.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted that the next autumn Ukraine “approaches to extremely important decision which can be considered as geopolitical taking into consideration its scale: this is the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in Vilnius.” “With the coming of the November Vilnius Summit, feeling of responsibility for the next political decisions will grow among the deputies, potential politic, humanitarian consequences of these decisions will become clear,” Volodymyr Rybak deems. “At the end of November, in Vilnius, not a simple international agreement will be signed, but practically in the wide European context the fate of further history of independent Ukraine will be sealed,” he said.
According to Volodymyr Rybak, “continuous approximation to the next presidential elections will electrify political atmosphere in Parliament.” Although, he noted, “in October there will be one year since the last parliamentary elections. It is already one fifth of the distance. The period of “political immatureness” for the deputies of new convocation is over. In its turn it means that it is high time for the politicians “to pay the bills” and fulfill their obligations.” “I hope it will add constructivism to legislative work, as people wait from the deputies not fiery speeches, but daily contextual and systematic work, which will later positively affect on the real life of the population,” said the Chairman of Parliament.
